Built-in vs walk-in wardrobes: which suits your home?
It’s the question we’re asked most often: should you go for a built-in robe or a walk-in? Both can be beautiful and both are made to measure - the right choice comes down to your room, your storage needs and how you like to start the day.
Built-in wardrobes
A built-in wardrobe turns a single wall into floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall storage behind sliding or hinged doors. It’s the most space-efficient option, making it ideal for standard bedrooms, kids’ rooms and anywhere floor space is at a premium.
Walk-in wardrobes
A walk-in wardrobe is a dedicated dressing room with open shelving, drawers and feature lighting. It needs more floor area, but it delivers a luxurious, boutique feel and makes the most of larger main bedrooms - or a converted spare room.
How to decide
As a rule of thumb: if you want to maximise bedroom floor space, choose a built-in. If you have the room and want a dressing-room experience, choose a walk-in. Door style matters too - sliding doors save space in tight rooms, while hinged doors give full access to the interior.
